A Little About Us

Paradis Honey Ltd. is a family-owned Apiary located in Girouxville, Alberta and has been in beekeeping for several generations. The current owners are of the seventh generation and own and operate 3,500 colonies. During the offseason, we have a commercial wax rendering plant which has been in operation for over 50 years. We have just recently expanded our beeswax operation to process white beeswax. We are situated in the Peace River region which is known for its vast fields of clover, long and warm summer days, and cool summer nights. With this combination, it produces fabulously high-quality honeybeeswax, and pollen The honey is not processed other than being extracted from the honeycomb. Great care is taken to keep the honey “as the bees made it”.  We have a reputation for being a dependable supplier of high-quality products, and for providing good service to our customers, large or small, new or established.

Why Choose us?

Because we are 100% Canadian! We are a quality Canadian product that is pure and unadulterated. This means that our products are all “as the bees made it” and do not include any additional additives. The honey is unpasteurized, non-filtered and tastes fresh directly from the honeycomb.  Our pollen is full of health boosters. Our wax is 100% pure all-natural Canadian beeswax.  It is heated and filtered minimally to preserve the original pure product.  No chemical processing, bleaching or additives added. Our beeswax has an all-natural honey aroma that will definitely put you into relaxation mode.

Raw Honey

Our raw Alberta Honey is made from the nectar of our abundant alfalfa and clover fields, as well as native wildflowers, which keep our bees happy and well fed.  It has a delicious mild flavor and is the perfect addition to your favorite cup of tea or when cooking to enhance but not dominate the overall flavor of your recipe.  Natural raw honey will eventually crystallize.  It’s a guarantee that it has not been tampered with.  The rate of crystallization is dependent on a number of factors, the main one being the amount of glucose in the flower nectar, so each honey variety will differ.  Crystallized honey is just as healthy as liquid honey coming straight out of the hive.  If you wish to re-liquify or soften your honey, gently warm it up by submerging the container into a water bath of approximately 105F.  Let sit and repeat process until desired consistency is achieved.  It will be smooth and ready to serve once again.

Beeswax

Our Alberta beeswax is a natural wax produced by the honeybees.  It is 100% natural with no additives. The wax is formed into scales by eight wax producing glands in the abdominal segments of worker bees, which is discarded in the beehive.  The hive workers collect and use it to form cells for honey storage and larval and pupal protection within the beehive.  Beeswax arises when cappings are removed during the honey extraction process. New wax made by the bees is actually clear and colorless, it becomes opaque after bees chew on it and becomes  contaminated with pollen by the worker bees in the hive, becoming progressively yellower and browner by incorporating pollen oils and propolis. Beeswax has been used since prehistory as the first plastic, as a lubricant and waterproofing agent, in wax casting of metals and glass, as a polish for furniture and leather, for making candles, as an ingredient in cosmetics and as an artistic medium in encaustic painting.  Candle making has long involved the use of beeswax, which burns readily and cleanly.  Beeswax candles are purported to be superior to other wax candles because they burn brighter and longer, do not bend and burn cleaner.

Bee Pollen

Bee Pollen is a ball or pellet of field-gathered flower pollen packed by the worker honeybees and used as a primary food source for the beehive.  Bee pollen contains many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, making it incredibly healthy.  Studies have linked bee pollen and its compounds to health benefits such as decreased inflammation, as well as improved immunity. Our raw bee pollen comes from the northern region of Alberta, where our bees enjoy a rich variety of wildflowers, clover and alfalfa for foraging.  Paradis Honey pollen packs a nutritional punch compared to the typical store-bought, dried-out varieties, as it comes from the highest quality foraging grounds.  You can really taste the difference, as our pollen is never heated or treated in order to preserve all the natural enzymes and vitamins. How to use bee pollen….start off with small amounts such as 1/2 teaspoon and working your way up to 1 to 2 teaspoons per day.  It can be used in smoothies, salads, yogurt, oatmeal or just as is.
